Resolution # 3
As we continue our resolution journey I am maintaining my commitment fully resolved to maximize my moments. Bedtime stories now have me fully present rather than thinking of all I could get done. Now, if I could just stay awake to read a little more. :)
My couple time is now treasured and I am not trying to do just one more load of laundry. I seem to be emerging into a renewed me that sees each moment as one that cannot be recaptured. As a result I am slowing down and looking at interruptions more as opportunities. Now onto the next challenge! The resolution to champion “biblical femininity”. The truth is I LOVE the fact that I am female! I embrace it now. I can't say I have always been that way. As a little girl I liked dolls but wanted trains and hot wheels too. I didn't want to stand on the sideline and cheer for the team, I wanted to be on the team gliding through the air to slam it in a non-regulation basketball goal like Clyde “the glide” Drexler (now I am telling my age). My mother often found me climbing trees and teaching the boys how to make mud pies down by the creek as we caught crayfish . She quickly taught me that to embrace the girly things in life did not mean I couldn't be athletic. She began to teach me that there was a time for everything. A time to play a pick up game of basketball and a time to go to ballet. A time to voice my opinion and a time to listen and observe as others shared theirs. A time to lead and a time to folllow. I see now lessons she taught about being a strong woman! She modeled the power of nurturing and influence which often was done without speaking. As I read this section I realize that the word so many of us hate must be addressed...Submission! At first glance many of us cringe until we realize God's definition and purpose for submission. There is power in submission. We must not accept the world's viewpoint. I am reminded of Mary when the first miracle occurred at the wedding in Cana and she approached Jesus stating the problem and then telling the servants to do whatever He says. She communicates with Jesus, but the action, the miracle, is Jesus at work. As women submission means communicating with our Lord and trusting the order God establishes and not forcing our will. It means Christ is head and we move under His authority. If we really think about it this faith in Christ brings freedom and peace. We are at our best when we realize that our power submitted under God's control has value. We see that in energy, fire, water and air. It is time we see it in ourselves.
