- What is BibleJourney?
BibleJourney is a 9-month program that seeks to train Christian believers and congregations to understand, interpret, apply and teach the Bible. A part of Gordon-Conwell’s Biblical Literacy Project, BibleJourney is a tool provided to individuals and churches to help them “handle accurately the Word of God” (2 Tim. 2:15).
- What will be taught in BibleJourney?
During the Fall 2011/Winter 2012, and Spring 2012 year, there are three 9-week courses that will cover the Old Testament (Books of Moses, Historical/Poetic Books, Prophetic Books).
- Who is involved with BibleJourney?
BibleJourney will be instructed by Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary professors at three Charlotte churches: Lake Forest Church, Huntersville; The Park Church, Charlotte; Grace Covenant Church, Cornelius.
- Who should take BibleJourney classes?
BibleJourney is seminary-level teaching made available to all those involved in church leadership at any level. It is a great way to deepen your Biblical knowledge AND credit students can receive a certificate of completion for possible seminary credit upon completion! All serious Bible students are welcome.
- What is the cost of the course?
There are two levels an individual can choose to take: either as an auditor or credit bearing. Members of The Park Church receive a special discount!
Auditors can attend all classes, but are not required to complete assignments.
Public Cost: $100 per course
Park Discount: $25 per course
Credit bearing students will be expected to attend all classes and complete all assignments. This level offers certification of competency in principles of Bible interpretation, and scope/depth of Bible survey knowledge. Students completing assignments satisfactorily will receive a certificate of completion that can be presented to graduate schools for consideration of credit.
Public Cost: $200 per course
Park Cost: $200 per course
Payment is taken per session. $25 is non-refundable and there will be no refunds after March 29th.
- When will courses begin? How long will the courses last?
BibleJourney courses will begin on January 12, 2011 at The Park Church Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, N.C. Each course is 9-weeks, and will be broken down in the following way:6:15 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. (For Credit Students: Small Group Breakout, Option A)
6:45 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. (Large group teaching)
8:45 p.m. – 9:15 p.m. (For Credit Students: Small Group Breakout, Option B)Courses begin at Lake Forest Church (Fall), continue at The Park Church Beatties Ford Road (January), and then to Grace Covenant Church (March/April).
