Local church one of four finalists for Hoodie Awards presented by well-known comedian Steve Harvey

Charlotte, NC - University Park Baptist Church has been named one of four finalists in two categories – best church and best church choir – for the Fifth Annual Hoodie Awards presented by nationally-known comedian Steve Harvey. The Park is the only church in the Carolinas to be considered for the awards.

The Hoodie Awards is the brainchild of Steve Harvey, whose nationally syndicated radio morning show airs locally on WBAV 101.9 FM. The awards honor local business establishments, religious and community leaders, churches and high schools for their contributions and excellence within various neighborhoods.

Online fan voting for the Hoodie Awards begins from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wed., Sept. 12 for best church and on Tues., Sept. 18 for best church choir. The community can go to www.steveharvey.com on those dates to vote for The Park.

Each winner will be announced during the Hoodie Awards on Sat., Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, NV. This award show, best described as the Oscars with an urban beat, features a diverse and ultra talented group of celebrities, actors, athletes and recording artists presenting non-traditional awards to the stars of the community.
